Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX15 (LX10) review

I’ve just published my detailed review of Panasonic LX15 (LX10 for north america) on Youtube. LX15 is one of those 1″ sensor type compacts – promising (and delivering) higer than expected image and video quality from such a tiny camera body.  If you want to skip all the talk, I will list only my final Pro’s and Con’s list here as well as full resolution samples for download and links for review and video samples.

  • High RAW image quality
  • Sharp lens (center)
  • Useful 24-72mm lens with F/1.4 wide angle
  • Impressive 4K video quality
  • Fast auto focus
  • Spot metering linked to AF point
  • Generally fast operation and response
  • Time lapse
  • Lot of still image and video manual controls and customization options
  • Excellent touch LCD
  • 180° articulated LCD for selfies and vlogs
  • USB charging
  • Easy to use WiFi

  • Small buttons and cramped dials
  • Several operation perks
  • Average JPEG IQ
  • F/1.4 only at widest angle; F/2.8 already by 32mm
  • Video stabilization not very impressive
  • Variable aperture lens not great for video
  • Strong chromatic aberrations
  • Inconsistent video AF
  • Basic Auto ISO controls
  • Slippery body materials
  • No external charger
  • No microphone input
